ANSWER: There are no topics you need to avoid discussing with them. What you need to avoid is using computer jargon. You'll know when you've done it because their eyes will start to glaze over. The other crucial thing is to take your time. You may be in a rush, but they are not. Rushing people who are fearful or overwhelmed only makes them retreat. Good luck!
