Tongue outWow, I purchased your book.  It is the bomb.  I am not new to computers.  But it taught me things.  It taught me the whys and so-forths.  I would recommend you book to all my friends.  I like the idea that it uses layman's terms.  Where was this book a couple of years ago.  Are there any other books.  Like perhaps one on “html”?

I don't have any other computer books to offer you at the moment, but if I see a good one on html, I'll let you know.

Dear Abby,

I am new to the computer world and may I agree with your quote at the beginning of the book, “Rushing people who are fearful or overwhelmed only makes them retreat”, which is what I have done many times until I found your book.  Many times I have started to read books that were supposed to be for beginners and by chapter 2, they were already over my head.  Not your book.  I love the way it takes my step by step.  I am so comfortable with it.  It is so much easier than I had anticipated.  It helped me knowing that your mom had accomplished it too.  I can so relate to her..  I have asked many of the same questions that she did.  I keep your book in my laptop bag so it goes wherever the laptop goes, if I have a question, I just refer to your book.  Thank-You so much for a book designed for your mom & myself.

Would there be any chance that you would have one for Facebook?  I think I could understand your version of it.  If you do have one could you please inform me of it via my e-mail address.  Since I have recommended this book to all new learners I know, I would love to do the same with one on Facebook.

Once again, Thank-you sooooo much for your guidance.

Dear Gloria,

So nice to hear from you and thank you so much for your kind words. I'm very glad that “Is This Thing On?” has been helpful.

I have not written a book on Facebook, but I do have a blog post that might prove helpful:

Let me know if this helps you and, if you want to experiment with Facebook, feel free to add me as a friend!

All the best,
Abby

Hello, Love your book.  I have a problem.  I have a laptop with mcafee security, shortly after I turn my laptop on a pop-up will appear down in the right corner of the screen saying my subscription to mcafee has expired.  How do I remove this for good?
I did the steps to block pop-ups, no luck..it is very annoying!  Thank you.      -Rick

Dear Rick,

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I assume you do not intend to use McAfee to protect your computer. Yes? If that is the case, you can remove it from your computer entirely.

However, I want to give you a word of advice…do not start removing programs from your computer willy nilly. It may be that a program is a necessary component on your computer, but runs in the background without you being aware of its importance. So, follow these instructions to remove ONLY programs that you know your computer does not need.

1) Click on START or the Microsoft icon in the bottom left of your screen.

2) Click on Control Panel.

3) Double click on Programs and Feautures (an older computer may have Add/Remove Program).

4) Scroll down until you find McAfee listed. Click on McAfee.

5) Click on Uninstall. Follow the steps that appear on the screen to uninstall the program.

6) You will be prompted to restart your computer. That is a very important step not to miss, because until the computer has restarted the program will not actually be removed.

I hope that helps. And, again, do NOT remove any programs without being sure that they are not necessary for the functioning of your computer.

If all of this seems overwhelming, you can invite a more savvy computer person over and might be able to make them their favoriter meal in exchange for their help.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Abby
