Hey, Abby -

I'm the programming librarian at the Essex Library in Connecticut (we're a shoreline town about halfway between New York and Boston) , and I'm wondering about your availability for an appearance here. Your book looks like a winner, especially with Essex's very sizable aging population, who seem to ask us daily here for help and information on running their new computers.

Do you charge for appearances? Have you any scheduled in our approximate vicinity any time between now and May? Let me know, please, via email when you've got a minute.

Dear Jenny,

So nice to hear from you. I am very familiar with Essex, CT. I grew up in Old Lyme and have a weekend house in Niantic. The world gets even smaller as both of my grandparents were residents at Essex Meadows!

I would love to come to your library to speak. The format of most of my presentations is a discussion that lasts from 45 minutes to an hour and a half including plenty of Q&A from the audience, but I can conform to whatever works best for you. To get a sense of my book events past and future, here's a link to my book tour schedule: http://abbyandme.com/abby-stokes

I don't charge for my appearances at libraries. That isn't to say that I would reject a stipend, if your budget allows…but I'm happy to come and hope that I can sell a few books while there.

Thanks so much for reaching out to me. I look forward to scheduling an event with you.

Best,
Abby

Hi Jenny,

I wanted to throw my two cents in here–I've heard Abby speak three times so far, twice at our branch libraries. At the last program someone walked up to me and said she gave “the perfect program.” So true; she gives unstintingly of her time and knowledge, and every person in each audience left enlightened, and empowered. Your library patrons will have a treat in store when Abby comes to speak.
